Connor Dickie

I began Navigator College as a year 6 student in the schools first year (2009) and then graduated in 2015.

I moved to Adelaide and attended Flinders Uni where I studied 2 degrees over 3 years, completing neither. Following this resounding success and with an empty bank account I took a break from study and worked as a sales rep for a plumbing/pump business in Mount Barker. Got sick of desk work pretty quickly so in 2020 I joined the Royal Australian Navy as an Aviation Warfare Officer. After finishing my initial training I did work on Covid Assist in Sydney, including running a quarantine hotel for a number of the Afghanistan Evacuees in 2021. I completed my basic flight training last year, being awarded my wings in September, and am now on my MH60-R (Seahawk helicopter) conversion course, due to graduate early next year.

Easy favourite memory from Nav’s was the people I met. I got to meet my two best mates and run a muck with them, and I also got to meet my incredible wife!

Biggest achievement was getting married in February of 2023. Second would be getting my wings and being able to fly for a living.

Advice for students - Change jobs/degrees/cities/breakfast cereals as much as you want until you find one you like. There’s no time pressure and there’s always an alternative pathway to do something, so just keep trying things.
