Governance at Navigator College
Navigator College is part of the national Lutheran Education Australia network and operates in partnership with Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Port Lincoln.
The College is governed by a Board that provides strategic leadership and stewardship, ensuring the College remains faithful to its Christian mission and sustainable for future generations.
Role of the College Board
The College Board is responsible for the long-term direction and governance of Navigator College. Its key responsibilities include:
Appointing, supporting and evaluating the Principal
Defining and safeguarding the College’s Christian identity and educational philosophy
Setting strategic priorities and monitoring progress against the Strategic Plan
Ensuring effective governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance
Providing financial oversight and ensuring long-term sustainability
Overseeing major capital works and facilities planning
Acting in the best interests of the whole College community
Ensuring the College is well-positioned for future growth, strength, and impact
The Board operates at a governance level, working in partnership with the Principal and leadership team, who are responsible for the day-to-day management of the College.

Elise Pocknee-Clem – Chairperson
Elise has served as Chair of the Navigator College Board since 2018. A long-standing member of the Port Lincoln community, she brings professional expertise as an optometrist and leadership experience through her roles in healthcare and community organisations. Elise is passionate about strengthening Navigator College’s vision of providing high-quality, Christ-centred education on the Eyre Peninsula and supporting the College’s continued growth and innovation.

Kingsley MacDonald – Vice Chairperson & Founding Chair
Kingsley was the inaugural Chair of the Navigator College Board (2008–2015) and continues to serve as Vice Chair today. After the devastating Black Tuesday fires of 2005, Kingsley shared his dream of establishing a Lutheran school in Port Lincoln – a vision that, through faith, hard work, and community support, became Navigator College. Under his leadership, the College opened in 2009 with 118 students and 18 staff, and has grown to become a thriving International Baccalaureate World School. Kingsley remains deeply committed to the College’s mission and heritage.

Michelle Fiegert – Board Member
Michelle Fiegert is a Board Member of Navigator College and an active member of the Lutheran Church, with strong family and community connections across the Eyre Peninsula. She has grandchildren at the College and brings a deep personal commitment to its life and mission. Michelle brings extensive experience as a former medical practice manager and has served as a Justice of the Peace in South Australia for over 30 years. She is widely recognised for her strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and a longstanding commitment to serving the community. She is a key organiser of the Lutheran Church Christmas Tree Festival and is widely respected for her willingness to contribute time and energy to community initiatives. Michelle is passionate about supporting the College through thoughtful governance and a strong culture of care.

Rowena Lescher – Board Member
Rowena joined the Navigator College Board in 2024 and is actively involved in strengthening parent engagement and community connection. She has two children at the College and works part-time as a veterinary surgeon at Lincoln Vet Centre. Rowena has contributed to the Twilight Festival committee for several years and values the role of community events such as Stay and Play and the Splash Carnival in building a strong sense of belonging. She is passionate about fostering a positive, connected culture for Navigator families.

Dr Alison Lydeamore – Board Member
Alison is a Board Member of Navigator College and a General Practitioner based in Port Lincoln. She is the parent of two children who have attended the College and is committed to ensuring young people on the Eyre Peninsula have access to high-quality education and opportunities close to home. Alison has a strong interest in education through her work supporting and mentoring medical students and brings valuable governance experience from her service on a medical board. She values the Port Lincoln lifestyle and community and is passionate about supporting the long-term wellbeing, strong governance, and strategic direction of Navigator College.

Dr Janssen Ang – Board Member
Janssen is a Board Member and Chair of the Governance Committee. A rural generalist anaesthetist, he has served the Eyre Peninsula community for over a decade through hospital and community practice. Janssen previously held a board directorship with a healthcare service in the Riverland and continues to contribute to a number of professional medical committees. With three children at Navigator College, he is deeply invested in the College’s future. He is also actively involved in his church community and values Navigator’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and a strong Christian foundation.

Daniel Schubert – Board Member
Daniel is a Board Member and parent of two children in the Junior School. He brings a professional background in business, with experience in real estate negotiation and property valuation. Daniel is a member of the Lutheran Church and an Old Scholar of Concordia Lutheran College. He is passionate about Lutheran education and the role it plays in developing young people of character, purpose, and faith. Daniel is committed to supporting Navigator College as a strong and sustainable learning community.

Simone Morgan - Board Member
Simone is a recent Old Scholar, graduating from Navigator College in 2023, and brings a valuable youth perspective to the Board. A committed Christian, she is passionate about faith-based education and its role in shaping confident and compassionate young people. Simone was awarded the Lutheran Ladies Guild Award for Christian Service in 2023. She currently works as a fitness instructor and is pursuing a career in education. Her recent student experience provides a contemporary voice to Board discussions and strategic thinking.
