MIDDLE SCHOOL RESILIENCE
Throughout the Middle School we strive to build courageous young people. In the context of school, this means young people willing to try new things, to learn from mistakes and failures in the knowledge that these failures or setbacks are a part of the journey to success. Great from all fields acknowledge the place of failure along the path to success.
“A person who has never made a mistake, has never tried anything new” – Albert Einstein
“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, I cannot accept not trying” – Michael Jordan
“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently” – Henry Ford
As we draw near to the close of 2021, we are presented with an important moment to look back on failures, setbacks, struggles and the failures of the early stages of any skill, and realise the journey we have come. Looking across the Middle School I am thankful for the students who chose to pick themselves up from failure and to be resilient to learn new things. I am proud of the young adolescents that have persisted with relationships, forgiving one another and them selves as they navigate these interesting years, to be a part of a great community.
Through this Term 4 we are looking forward to the celebrations that await the Middle Schoolers, but we also celebrate the victories, the fruit of:
- persistence in the Year 6 and 7 Band program,
- teamwork in our sporting endeavours,
- determination in the mathematics classroom
- freedom of expression in the arts
- and the satisfaction of service across our learning areas.
