From the Junior School

Life is an unending journey of learning!

I wonder if you have ever heard someone say that we are all lifelong learners. From the time that we are born we are learning. This includes being able to communicate with others in our world, identifying the emotions of ourselves and others and having time to play. As we explore, we discover new things, which allow us to make connections with concepts that are critical for growth and development. Humans also learn great things when they make mistakes. Some of the greatest achievements that we make in life often occur because we have been required to be reflective, think and problem solve.

We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided by a private chart. Of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Navigator College is a community where learners are encouraged and inspired to be inquirers when they approach their learning. In our Junior School we provide ongoing opportunities for children to explore and discover what they are learning about both on site and within the local community.

Some of the amazing opportunities that have occurred this term have included:

  • Makerspace opportunities at lunch time with Mrs. Scott
  • Busy Bees Club in the Hive with the Learning Support Team
  • Weekly wellbeing lunchtime for Year 4 and Year 5
  • Year 3 attending their camp at Trinity Haven and Glen Forest
  • Year 5 sharing their final celebration of learning for the Primary Years Programme at their Exhibition Night
  • Year 1 exploring what different countries celebrate at their BIG Night Out

As 2021 ends, I would like to thank the learners, staff and the Junior School families for their ongoing commitment to this year’s journey of learning. I hope that the Summer Holidays are an opportunity for everyone to continue learning, at a different pace and in both familiar and unfamiliar surroundings. Take care and may God continue to bless you and yours each day.
