At Navigator College Middle School Science provides opportunities for students to develop an understanding of important Science concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, of Science’s contribution to our culture and society, and its application in our lives.
We believe that inquiry is central to scientific investigation and understanding. Students actively construct and challenge their understanding of the world around them by combining scientific knowledge with reasoning and thinking skills. Scientific knowledge is made relevant through its innumerable applications in the real world.
The curriculum supports students to develop the scientific knowledge, understandings and skills to make informed decisions about local, national and global issues and to participate, if they so wish, in science-related careers.
Navigator College has adopted The Australian Curriculum: Science which has three interrelated strands:
Science Understanding – Biological sciences, Chemical sciences, Earth and space sciences, Physical sciences
Science as a Human Endeavour – Nature and development of science, use and influence of science
