Book Week 2014 – ‘Connect to reading’

From Monday 18 – Friday 22 August 2014, Navigator College and many public libraries and schools around Australia are celebrating the 69th Book Week, the longest running children’s festival in Australia. This year’s theme is ‘Connect to reading’, a very fitting theme for our college as we have just implemented an extensive literacy program. This was introduced to the Navigator staff by Ms Margaret Manner, an internationally renowned literacy expert, who shared her experience with the staff during PD week in July.

Navigator College is truly connected to reading!

Help bring Book Week alive and take lots of photos of your children reading. We have a ‘Connected to reading’ display in the library which showcases our students’ love for literature. Please leave any photos with your class teachers to forward to the library team or send directly to umcquillan@navigator.sa.edu.au

If you are interested in finding out what Navigator staff loves reading, visit our library and check out our ‘Staff favourite reads’ display.

For more information on this year’s lovingly chosen books visit the Children’s book council website:

All Book Week books are displayed in the Navigator Resource Centre and will be the focus of library visits. Students are invited to engage in the lunchtime activities offered in the library and share the stories to highlight the joy and importance of reading.
