Last term in Christian Studies, the Year 8s completed a unit on Service. As a result of this, I would like to have the students participate in different acts of service throughout the year.
As a class, we have decided to organise a blanket/jumper/jacket drive.
Each year, many residents of Port Lincoln find themselves experiencing hardship. One area that our class feels we can help with, is to donate items of warm clothing or blankets/quilts that are surplus to our needs. All items donated will go to families/individuals identified by Pastor Ben and Mr Thiel (school chaplain). After this, we will be taking them to St Vinnies for them to use in their welfare program. The blankets and quilts are distributed to those in need after a welfare assessment. If clothing is required, the recipient is given a voucher to use within their shop- to find articles of clothing that fit and meet their needs. If the clothing you donate is purchased by someone else in the community, the proceeds from the sale go to providing food or accommodation for those in need.
If you have any articles surplus to your requirements and wish to participate in this drive, please send along to school in Week 5 on Wednesday. Items will be gathered after chapel.
8A thank you in anticipation of your support.
